Museum Night was held on Friday, February 1, 2019, across Croatia.

Interactions with exhibits, games, the latest technology, Virtual Reality, and digitized heritage – and all this integrated with art.

Museum Night was held on Friday under the theme ‘Museums – Innovation and the Digital Future”, which proved to be an exciting topic for the 14th edition, reports Večernji List on February 2, 2019.

The event, organized by the Croatian Museum Society, is one of the most popular social gatherings of the year and represents an alternative to the usual exhibitions displayed in Croatian museums on the weekends. With a growing number of visitors each year, the 14th edition estimated close to 250,000 visitors! In just the first two hours of the event, more than 30,000 people visited museums all over the country.

In the epicenter that links art and technology, namely the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Museum Night, which integrated 250 museums and other heritage and cultural institutions in more than 150 cities and municipalities across Croatia, was officially opened on Friday by the director of the event, Dubravka Osrečki Jakelić.

“Innovation is, concerning our connectivity, spontaneous and systematic delivery of new products and new forms of cooperation with our visitors,” said Osrečki Jakelić.

“Every year I visit the event because everything is lively and everything is free. This year, I particularly like the fact that almost every museum is interactive and allows us to be a part of the show,” said Marija Stančić, who visited the Typhlological museum in Zagreb.

As expected, there was a massive crowd at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, where visitors could enjoy the permanent exhibition as well as many lectures, while those who booked free tickets on time could visit the Planetarium and Demonstration Cabinet of Nikola Tesla.

This year’s event allowed visitors to enjoy the most modern approaches to art, as their enthusiasm took them from one free museum to the next.
