New Croatian TV Series “Novine”, Directed by Dalibor Matanić, Airs Tonight

This evening, Sunday, October 16, the first of a new 12 episode drama series, “Novine”, will premiere on HTV1 at 20.10h.

Buro 247 reports that the series opens with a tragic traffic accident of which is the fault of a member in a tycoon family. Soon after, the event was covered-up with editorial changes and ownership structure in the Rijeka daily newspaper “Novine”.


Series “Novine” a story of betrayal, abandonment and disappearance of human integrity under pressure, vanity, conformism and existential fears. This is a story about journalism, but also about how journalism might be. The series follows the lives and relationships in the newsroom of an influential daily newspaper, and shows the influence of powerful politicians within the media scene. It is accompanied by personal relationships and conflicts of several key journalists and editors in the newsroom torn between professional integrity, yellowing and commercialization of journalism and dirty backroom games. The series will introduce viewers to the world of printed daily journalism and in its likeness – a tangled web of interests of underground intelligence, big business and high politics.


The series was realized for the Croatian Television production company “Drugi plan”, with producers Miodrag Sila and Nebojša Taraba. The series is directed by Dalibor Matanić from a screenplay by writer and journalist Ivica Đikić, says HRT.


The series will show the appearances of 80 actors and is starring Branka Katić, Trpimir Jurkić, Goran Marković, Olga Pakalović, Dragan Despot, Zijad Gračić, Aleksandar Cvjetković, Edita Karađole, Zdenko Jelčić, Anja Matković, Tihana Lazović and others.
