New Velvet Music Festival Coming to Island Krk

Daniela Rogulj

Velvet Festival music is an event organized by young islanders, being held this year for the first time from August 19-20 in the village Punat. This musical event will offer audiences two days of an audio-visual spectacle, where 10 artists from regional and global alternative scenes will showcase their talents.

The event’s location will be held at “Punta de Bij” in the village of Punat on island Krk along the Adriatic coast, creating a true Croatian summer experience.

The festival will boast two stages and a rich program that will include a wide range of hospitality and cuisine, theater, intimate jazz concerts, numerous workshops and entertainment, and even party boats!

Organizers say:

“If we look back five years, we can see how most of the alternative cultural events on the island of Krk are extinguished. Viewed from our perspective – perspective young people with a vision for a better future – we believe that it is necessary to provide the possibility for realization of programs suitable for young people who move away from the dominant and standardized national Croatian Music. Organization “Velvet Festival” wants to be local with regional visitors to offer modern, alternative and primarily European-oriented content in the form of music entertainment.

Also, one of the goals is to make the island of Krk recognizable for a younger audience and for music lovers outside the Croatian borders. With its unique location and good transport links, it creates the possibility of growing the festival, which can become a kind of brand for the island. Prompted by a series of festivals along the Dalmatian and Istrian coast, we want to make Krk richer with cultural content, the first of this kind on the largest Croatian island!”
