Split luxury restaurant a pop up hit in Zagreb, one of many great new openings in the Croatian capital.
Whichever you look, 2015 was a great year for the Croatian capital Zagreb. With more than a million tourists, the city has begun to rival the more well-known tourist destinations on the coast, and the ongoing construction of the new terminal at Zagreb Airport will only help make Zagreb more accessible to tourists.
This year’s Advent in Zagreb has also been a huge success, which included it being voted the best European Christmas Destination by popular website Best European Destinations.
Zagreb’s growing attraction as a destination has been mirrored in its expanding nightlife seen, and 2015 saw the introduction of numerous innovative bars and restaurants in the city, adding to its appeal. A list of 20 of the top newly-opened established last year was published by Wall.hr on January 2, 2016, giving perhaps the best overview of the new hip places to hang out in Zagreb.
Among the undisputed hits of the culinary scene has been luxury restaurant Paradigma from Split. Part of the innovative Paradox Hospitality, the group has brought a breath of fresh air to the Dalmatian gourmet scene in recent years, firstly with the opening of the first wine bar in the Dalmatian capital in 2012, follwed by the opening of Paradigma, the first fine-dining experience in Split which celebrated the cuisine and wines of the entire Mediterranean.
With the seasonality of tourism in Split (something which is slowly changing as the city is turning slowly into a 12-month destination), Paradigma decided to head north to the capital for the winter, opening the first pop up restaurant in Croatia, to plenty of critical acclaim from the top food critics in Croatia.
Paradigma is just one of the exciting newcomers on the Zagreb gourmet scene. Click here for the full list of the top 20.
