Contracts for 20 New Pula Buses Signed Worth 45 Million Kuna

Lauren Simmonds

More and more contracts continue to be signed up and down the country for various projects, be they European Union projects or otherwise, from infrastructure to public transport to sport and more. The popular Istrian city of Pula is the latest on the list with signed contracts worth more than 45 million kuna for new buses.

As Glas Istre/Borka Petrovic writes on the 28th of September, 2019, yesterday in the City of Zagreb, contracts were signed between the Pula-based transport company Pulapromet with bus suppliers for new buses which run on natural gas. A contract was signed with MAN Importer Croatia (Hrvatska) for twelve new city buses (which are twelve metres long, low floored and air-conditioned). The total cost of these new vehicles which will run in Pula is just over 29 million kuna.

For an additional eight buses (which are also twelve metres long, low-floored and air-conditioned), and also run on natural gas, a contract was signed with Autobus d.o.o. Zagreb, the authorised representative for the well known company IVECO BUS. The total price for these buses stands at over 16 million kuna. The price also includes diagnostic equipment for the modern vehicles, as well as special tools and further training for the bus drivers and other workshop staff.

The aim of the project “The procurement of SPP buses and the construction of an SPP filling station”, in which Plinara is participating as a partner, is to try to increase public transport passengers in the city, all while ensuring that Pula tries to make a more significant impact on the protection of the local environment with the very welcome switch to an alternative type of energy (compressed natural gas).
