ZAGREB, February 10, 2018 – The 10th annual reenactment of “1573 Peasant Revolt” in Donja Stubica attracted about 10,000 visitors in that northwestern Croatian town on Saturday.
The recreation of the Peasants’ Revolt was organised on the second weekend in February by the local Society of Knights of the Gold Chalice and the tourist board in the town.
The historical reenactment involved 250 stuntmen dressed in medieval costumes as feudalists and peasants armed with swords, cannons, pitch forks, spears and other weaponry to stage “the battle of all battles” just as it was back in 1573.
In addition to the battle of the serfs, there was a traditional fair to present old trades and crafts and artisanry products with a wide selection of culinary delights.
Unlike in 1573, this modern revolt ended with an “after party”.
