Poppy’s Happy Place’s goal is to be different.

Poppy’s Happy Place is a Croatian design team which delights customers with details for home and smaller pieces of furniture. Their story began with twisted, colourful chairs inspired by music, movies and pop culture, reports on October 18, 2018.

“We started a year ago, and our first major cooperation was with illustrator and graphic designer Hana Vrca from Zagreb. We want to collaborate with various young designers and artists, so we have recently teamed up with Zora Škrgulja, a designer renowned for great hand-painted designs of Crtarnica cups and plates,” said Davor Borojević, the team leader.

He, like the rest of the team, likes beautiful things and aesthetics, so he wanted to share it with other people. “It was nothing serious at first, but our friends liked it and we started selling items on Facebook. Soon the interest was so great that we started thinking about it as a serious business,” said Davor.

“Some of the products we design ourselves or in co-operation with young artists. Among them are the Feel Endless Love and Lost Beauty plates, glasses from the Organic collection and Poppy decorative pillows. The second area of activities is the procurement of top-quality products from abroad that we have found at leading European fairs. Among them are PIP Studio Amsterdam porcelain and Skitso Girls lamps,” explained Borojević. “We are especially proud of the collection of Swanky Poppy padded pillows and pearls, inspired by the Hollywood glamour of the 1950s and made of quality plush from Belgium,” said Davor.

On the Feel Endless Love series of plates they collaborated with illustrator Hana Vrca, and the idea of creating this interesting collection came accidentally. “At a flea market, we found an extremely beautiful photo of a girl shot in 1920. We wanted to protect it from being forgotten and it became an inspiration for a plate collection based on photographs of beautiful and forgotten women from the past,” added Davor.

The webshop, aimed at people who like cheerful and positive emotions, can be found at The team wants the shop to be a happy place for people who like a different kind of design. Next year they plan to open a shop for all lovers of art.
