A quality apartment on the water of an idyllic island in Dalmatia. Are such things still available?
Continuing our look at the more luxury end of Croatian real estate, via the portfolio of Croatia Sotheby’s International Realty, three spacious apartments just metres from the beach, in a quiet little village on the northern side of the island, looking over to Hvar and Peljesac.
Having had my own real estate business during the boom years of 2003 and 2004, I was curious to know the price of these apartments. More on that below, but let’s say I was very pleasantly surprised.
Korcula is a wonderful island, which is quietly positioning itself as a blueprint for quality tourism in Croatia, as I reported on my visit there this summer.
More information about these particular apartments for sale from the sales description from Croatia Sotheby’s International Realty below.
“SEA FRONT APARTMENTS ON THE ISLAND KORČULA
A total of three apartments are available in a five-story apartment building in a small village on the north of Korčula Island. Each apartment offers a magnificent view of the island of Hvar and Pelješac peninsula. The object is in its final stage of construction. Only the finest materials and furnishing have been used in the construction, in combination with the most sophisticated technology.
The property extends across a basement, ground floor, and three additional floors, whereas each floor contains an apartment. The units in the basement, on the ground floor and on the second floor are available. The building is located right by the sea, providing direct access to the mooring dock.
The first apartment that takes up 130 square meters is located in the basement. This apartment contains two bedrooms. One of them is linked to a private bathroom, while both bedrooms have access to the garden and the beach through a shared vestibule. A spacious living room and a dining room also link to the said vestibule. The apartment also contains a kitchen, a bathroom, and a pantry.
The second apartment is on the ground floor. Its 177 square meters area is divided into three bedrooms and a spacious 46 square meters terrace which provides a soothing view of the open sea. Two bedrooms provide a sea view and are linked to the terrace. One of the bedrooms also has a private bathroom. The terrace can also be accessed from the living room and the living room. This apartment also contains two pantries and an extra bathroom.
The third apartment, with its area of 133 square meters, has a partially covered terrace and a calming view of the grass-covered sealed roof. This apartment is remarkable for its intriguing architecture and segments linked by staircases. There are three bedrooms – one has a private bathroom, two have a sea view, and there is also a kitchen with a dining room, another bathroom, and a toilet.
The location ensures peace, privacy, and security for a soothing vacation and offers the possibility of exploring the pebble beaches this village is renowned for.”
A final word on the price. Back in the 2004 real estate boom, apartments which were not waterfront or offered the very best sea views were selling for between 2,500 and 4,000 euro a square metre on Hvar, and not those always in Hvar Town itself. Fast forward 13 years, and a waterfront apartment in an idyllic location just metres from the water is yours for 2,000 euro per square metre.
