Did you know that the Split Museum Night will be held in 25 locations on Friday?

Museum Night returns on Friday to the delight of thousands of citizens in more than a hundred Croatian cities. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Museums -Innovation and the Digital Future’, reports Dalmatinski Portal on January 31, 2019.

Museum Night begins at 6 pm and lasts until 1 am, and in Split this year, 16 institutions and associations will open their doors in 25 locations.

“Citizens can go anywhere because they can use free bus lines for the program of the Archaeological Museum in Salona or the program prepared by the Mosor Observatory, and there is a line that goes every hour on the HNK-Zvončac-HNK route. We expect an excellent response from citizens and I invite them to visit all the exhibitions we have prepared. Museum Night is very important because it helps culture finally get the place it deserves, and such manifestations are an opportunity to convince as many of our citizens as possible to see what’s going on in our museums, galleries and cultural institutions,” said Mate Omazić, head of social activities of the City of Split.

The Split City Museum prepared a particularly interesting exhibition and will exhibit 51 Split coat of arms, as well as family and church coat of arms.

“The exhibition opens at 7 pm and it will be the first time some of the coat of arms are exhibited and presented in this way. These are the coat of arms of the City of Split, noble and civil families, as well as the church emblems. The exhibition will also be in the courtyard of the Papalić Palace, in the Gothic Hall, on the terrace next to the hall,” announced Darka Perko Kerum from the Split City Museum.

Many visitors are attracted to Split’s Sports Hall of Fame every year, and Secretary Mladen Cukrov expects this year to be no different.

“Split’s Sports Hall of Fame will be open from 6 pm to 10 pm. Split has something to be proud of, as we have 220 participants of the Olympic Games, participants in 18 Olympic sports and 95 Olympic medal winners. We want to present that to the public. A lot of visitors come every year, and we expect Split’s Olympians and athletes to be in the hands of all the visitors, and we have also prepared mini movies from the history of Split sports as well as leaflets where children can get the autographs of our sporting greats,” announces Cukrov.

The Ilok City Museum will also be presented to the Split public for the first time.

“In front of us is an exciting time, and for the first time we are presenting our local project to the Split audience. It is designed to represent the activities of the Ilok Museum and its heritage, and through the application and presentation of the project we have imagined it to be educational, that is, to show how to protect the heritage from alienation and illegal business. We have always had a good relationship with Split, and the Customs Administration offered us a kind of cooperation, so we tried to link the exhibition to the French-Croatian association with the presentation of the project,” said Maja Barić, head of the Ilok Museum.
