November 20, 2018 – Advent in Split was presented at a press conference earlier this month at the Split City Administration building. The event, which is now titled “Winter Watercolors – Advent and Christmas Celebration in Split” was presented by the mayor of Split, Andro Krstulović Opara, the director of the Tourist Board of Split, Alijana Vukšić, and the director of Spalatum DMC, Ante Šunjić. With over 50 concerts on the Split Riva announced for this winter, here are 8 of the best.
This holiday event, which is the result of the coordination of all institutions, primarily the City of Split, the Split Tourist Board and Spalatum DMC, will last from December 1, 2018, to January 7, 2019.
As we’ve already announced, this year’s “Winter Watercolors” will open on Saturday, December 1, 2018, with the lighting of the Advent wreath at the Đardin fountain, which will be accompanied by a children’s program. A 20:00, Giuliano will open the event with his band on the Riva’s main stage.
Over the 37 days of this year’s Christmas celebration, there will be more than 50 music events on the Riva, of which eight, the organizers promise, stand out from the rest. Along with Giuliano, the people of Split can enjoy Hari Rončević, Klapa Šufit, Dalmatino, Four Tenors, Klapa Iskon, Slavonia Band and the highly anticipated Neno Belan & Fiumens, reports Dalmatinski Portal.

The event is organized by the association Žrvanj in cooperation with the company ‘Spalatum D.M.C.’
The new program also boasts an exhibition in cooperation with the Fotoklub Split. TheSplit Tourist Board and Fotoklub Split have organized a photo contest called ‘Advent in Split’. The content is open to all photographers, amateurs and professionals. The best photos will be rewarded with prizes, and an exhibition of the best works will be displayed in the photo gallery of Fotoklub Split.
This year’s event will have 28 Christmas cottages in the following locations: Riva (8 shops and 12 catering cottages); Đardin (2 shops, 2 catering cottages); Trg Gaje Bulata (4 shops); and Prokurative (children’s toys and the train).
