What to do when the sole idea of walking around town in the scorching midday sun fills you with dread, and you have no time for a quick trip to the beach? You find an oasis tucked away in the city centre and relax in the shade for an hour or two.
The Matija Vlačić Flacius Square, a charming location hidden in the Old Town in Rijeka, recently got transformed into a so-called Tea Square (Čajni trg) as a part of the European Capital of Culture 2020 project. The existing tea and coffee shop Samovar’s terrace now stands embellished with an abundance of various plants, herbs and flowers, providing the community with a much needed green area in the centre.
