Pelegrini restaurant aims to improve Croatia as a gastronomic destination through a unique incentive.
Pelegrini, known as the best restaurant in Croatia for three consecutive years, is located in the heart of the historic core of Šibenik. Known for their traditional yet innovative creations, something other than Pelegrini’s award-winning fare has attracted hundreds of interested foodies to the restaurant’s social networks and official website.
Precisely, Pelegrini posted a job advertisement on their Facebook page and official website on January 3, 2018, that boasts a hefty 5,000 euro reward. But what’s the catch?
The advertisement reads:
!!! We Are Hiring & Rewarding !!!
Do you have a passion for cooking and a love of good food?
Do you want to realize your dreams with the best team that puts creativity, love, and effort to create high-gastronomy every day?
Are you young, bright, motivated to work and want to enjoy what you are doing?
Experience is not necessary; you will get it with us.
For each of you who want to extend the working contract after two years, as a thank you, we are offering a prize of EUR 5,000 because we want you to know how much we appreciate your work.
For more information, check the link on our website.
The advertisement refers to any position within the restaurant, and the target group is young people who have an affinity with gastronomy and want to learn and work in a dynamic environment, whether they have experience in the hospitality industry or not.
To find our more truth to the advertisement, Slobodna Dalmacija contacted Lucija Bilandžić, the director of public relations at Pelegrini, who explained the details of the offer on January 4, 2018.
“Yes, this is a true advertisement, and the reason is to create and educate new catering staff, with the goal of improving Croatia as a gastronomic destination. What we want is to educate young people and show them that catering is an excellent career choice. We are sorry that young people are only doing this seasonally and do not see the benefits of this job. Apart from offering a constant opportunity for development, education and travel, being part of a culinary team is highly valued abroad,” Lucija told Slobodna and added that those who extend the contract with the award would also ensure a permanent working relationship.
This spring, the team from Šibenik’s Pelegrini will organize the International ‘Chefs’ Stage’ Gastronomy and Catering Congress, which will host many foreign guests and educate young professionals in the industry.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to show that catering is a profession that requires excellence. Unfortunately, in Croatia, it is not perceived that way. Our goal is to raise our gastronomy to an enviable level,” Lucija added.
Otherwise, Rudolf Štefan, the Pelegrini owner, and multiple award-winning chef introduces new meals to the menu every season, making it no wonder that this restaurant has been proclaimed the best on several occasions. Pelegrini is also appreciated beyond the borders of Croatia with their membership in the prestigious “Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe”, and the British Telegraph recognized its quality and chose Pelegrini as one of the top five gourmet holiday destinations in Croatia.
