What Links Us Together: British Embassy Zagreb Discovers How Croatian Wine Became Royal Favorite

Daniela Rogulj

The British Embassy Zagreb discovers what connects Croatia to the U.K. in their eleventh “What Links Us Together” video.

How did wine from Illok’s cellars become a Royal favorite?

The latest in the British Embassy Zagreb’s series “What Links Us Together”, which explores the human links of those who have traveled between Croatia and the U.K. to work, study, and enjoy what each country has to offer, discovers how one of the finest Croatian wines, Traminer, became a favorite of the British Royal Court.

The video, which was published earlier this week, features Diana Spajić from Iločki podrumi – known as the oldest and most awarded wine cellar in Croatia. Diana unveils the secrets of Traminer, how the 1947 Traminer was served on the coronation of Queen Elizabeth the Second in 1953 – and did you know that William and Kate even enjoyed the ice harvest at their wedding in 2007?

To find out more about this Illok cellar’s unique relationship with the British Royal Court, watch the video below.
