Croatia is currently in the lead in front of Poland with 4 and a half hours to go.
Yes, it’s EURO 2016 match day for Croatia and that also means Croatian fans are going into their third battle to colour the Eiffel tower in red and white checks. Can you imagine a better way to celebrate Statehood day?
The procedure is the same as it was in the first three rounds. Fans of all the teams playing today “vote” by typing hashtags with their team abbreviation, in Croatia’s case it’s #CRO and the inevitable #OrangeSponsorsYou in either their posts or comments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The team with the largest number of hashtags by the end of the day will earn the privilege of having the Eiffel tower coloured in its national colours. Voting process started at midnight and will end at 21:30 tonight so you still have a few hours left to type until your fingers turn blue. At the moment, Croatia is in the lead in front of Poland (their match is on at the moment) , and since Turkey is not playing on the same day as Croatia anymore, this could mean that tonight one of the most famous sights in Paris will turn red and white to help celebrate Croatia’s Statehood day.
Some fans, especially on Twitter, are taking this very seriously.
