The tragic incident took place on Wednesday morning.
This morning about 5.30 am, the local police received a report about a dead man lying in front of a nightclub on Zrće on the Croatian island of Pag, reports Index.hr on June 27, 2018.
It was determined that the murdered man was a citizen of Great Britain.
“A young citizen of Great Britain has been killed at Zrće in Novalja. The perpetrator is not yet known, and the police are conducting an investigation led by the Zadar County Attorney’s Office,” the Lika-Senj Police Administration reported.
According to the spokeswoman for the Lika-Senj Police Administration Maja Brozičević, the police know the identity of the victim, who is a young adult male, but for the sake of the investigation they have not yet provided more detailed information to the media.
According to unofficial information, the young man was stabbed to death and several more persons have been injured.
Several locals claim that another person was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
The entire area around the club in front of which the murder took pace has been fenced off by the police, which are not allowing anyone to enter the area.
“I came this morning at 7 am and they told me to leave. What I’ve heard is that a dark-skinned man was killed, but I cannot confirm this with certainty. There was a lot of blood. There was another man who fled into the toilet after seeing what had happened to his friend. I am sure there are witnesses because at that time there were a lot of people around there, and everything happened in front of a fast food restaurant. The police took the body and are looking for the knife with which the young man was killed,” said one man near Zrće.
According to the latest information, seven persons have been detained for questioning.
UPDATE: It is believed that drugs possibly played a role in the killing.
