New developments in the Zrće murder case.

British national Douglas C., suspected of murdering the 26-year-old Briton Ugo Wilson at Zrće beach on the island of Pag on Wednesday, was brought on Friday to the Zadar County Court to be interrogated by an investigative judge, reports Index.hr on June 29, 2018.

He was arrested on Thursday morning at Split Airport while trying to flee Croatia.

The police have announced further details of the investigation. “We have not yet found the weapon. I do not know how the criminal investigation will proceed, but since we have not been able to identify the participants of the incident on his side, I am afraid it will be quite difficult. He probably threw the weapon somewhere. It was not found in his personal luggage. I cannot say anything about the possible motive, and I am afraid it will be difficult to find out. There was some kind of commotion there, and it is likely that the basis of everything was something far more serious than an impolite look or a girl,” said Deputy Chief of Police Željko Prša.

He confirmed that the suspect was transported by a motorcyclist after the murder, but he does not believe that the person was involved in the event itself. “We believe that the motorcyclist did not know what had happened before, he simply wanted to help him,” Prša said. Asked whether more people would be arrested, he said that the possibility existed. “We will see how the further criminal investigation will proceed. We would like to reach other participants in the incident as well. But, most importantly, we have arrested the killer,” Prša added.

The murder took place in front of a nightclub at Zrće beach on the island of Pag on Wednesday early in the morning, when there was a conflict between several foreign nationals. Wilson was killed in the conflict, while two others persons were injured. One of them was hospitalised in Zadar due to life-threatening injuries.

According to the still unofficial information, the clash between the two British groups came about due to drugs. The two groups reportedly sold drugs at Zrće for days, and the conflict started after they were thrown out of a club.
