‘Zadarska Koka’: Regatta for All Generations Announced

Total Croatia News

Zadar will host the popular ‘Zadarska Koka’ regatta.

‘Zadarska Koka’, a regatta for all generations, will be held on Saturday, October 28, reports eZadar on September 28, 2017.

The event is organised by Sailing Club Uskok. The start is scheduled for 11 am at the pier on the Zadar Riva (Obala Petra Krešimira IV).

The organisers hope that the weather will be ideal so that all sailing enthusiasts, including the experienced ones with big ambitions and the more amateur ones with, will be able to compete and, maybe even more importantly, socialize and celebrate this wonderful sport. At last year’s regatta, held on October 22, the sailors struggled as there was barely any wind in their sails.

The regatta was named after the ‘Chocha’, a Venetian merchant sailing ship which arrived to Zadar on October 22, 1398.

The first Zadarska Koka Regatta was held on October 22, 2005, with the aim of reviving the events of this type in this part of the Adriatic, inspired by the successful local regattas such as the Mrduja regatta in Split, Fiumanka in Rijeka and Barcolana in Trieste.
