“Zagreb Be There”, a popular mobile app, now has two new routes – “Nightlife” and “Foodie”. “Nightlife” offers the advice to tourists given by Mirela Priselac Remi from the hip-hop band Elemental. It includes interesting places and bars of her choice, such as Art Park, Katran, Vinyl and Funk. The “Foodie” route is the work of the most famous Zagreb food blogger Jelena Iva Nikolić. Her route involves the best places in the city to relax, drink and eat something delicious, healthy and homemade, like Cogito Coffee Shop, Dežman Bar, Mak Na Konac or Mundoaka, reports journal.hr on June 24, 2016.
The app has eight routes, each one representing Zagreb in a somewhat different way. On the route called “Space Explorer”, there are locations of all the grounded planets of the solar system from the art installations of Ivan Kožarić and Davor Preis. “Hidden Spots” reveals to the visitors the last Upper Town well and the abandoned cemetery at Jurjevska Street, among other favourites. There are also routes Classic Zagreb, New Zagreb and Arty Zagreb – put together by well-known Zagreb artists.
“Zagreb Be There” is free and available on Android and iPhone devices, and can be downloaded from the microsite betherezagreb.com or via a QR code on leaflets which can be found at all major tourist spots in Zagreb. All the user has to do next is “choose among these unique routes and go off the beaten path”, the site says. They can check into locations by taking a photo of a place and sharing it with friends. When they complete a path they might win souvenirs, discounted museum tickets, and more.
The application has already won several awards, including a prize for best digital tourist promotion in Europe (Tourism & Strategy Festival, Paris, 2015) and for the innovation of the year in tourism (Days of Croatian Tourism, Opatija, 2015).
