NCLS representatives and Istrian officials exchanged experiences and ideas
Pula welcomed the US National Conference of State Legislatures delegates on October 28, 2015. At the reception held in the Communal palace, delegation consisting of 15 US senators was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Pula Elena Puh Belci, Deputy Prefect Giuseppina Rajko, Vice-president of the City council Ardemio Zimolo and Vice-president of the Istrian County Assembly Tamara Brussich.
Deputy Mayor was pleased that US congressmen decided to visit Pula out of all Croatian cities „Pula has a rich history, cultural heritage and tradition we’re very proud of. I believe you will enjoy exploring our streets and visiting our historical sites“she said.
Deputy county prefect briefly presented the Istrian County and its main economic branches sing that this is the most developed county in Croatia with continuous growth.
Vice president of the county assembly Brussich stated that both Pula and Istria are known for their multiculturalism and that Italian language is not only present in schools but also in all institutions.
On behalf of the whole delegation NCSL representative Curtis Bramble thanked the City of Pula for its hospitality and briefly presented the work of their organisation. He stated that the mission of NCSL is to improve the quality and efficiency of state legislative bodies in the US and he is very pleased that the meeting with Pula officials served as a great way to exchange experiences on political systems of both countries.
