Croatia’s craft beer revolution continues with the first beer festival in Medjimurje.
The first festival of craft beer in Međimurje took place in Čakovec on November 7, 2015, reports E-Medimurje. Stari Hrast (Old Oak) was the venue for seven leading Croatian craft breweries showing off their mastery of beermaking.
Porter, lager, black lager, apa, aba, IPA and many other beer types delighted attendees at the festival which started on Saturday afternoon.
Andreja Rambrot, one of the organizers, said: “The festival was logistically quite demanding, but everything went without a hitch. The breweries were very happy with the attendance, and the people of Međimurje were delighted to discover so much great beer being brewed in Croatia.
The festival continued long into the night, and Stari Hrast will keep offering several beers on its regular beer menu.
Seven craft breweries took part, Zmajsko Pivo, Varionica, ABA 5th Element, Križevci Brewery, Hold’em Brewery, Nova Runda and Air Craft, with musical accompaniment
by Captain’s Daughter & The Sailors, The Eggs and The Blarney Stones
There was even a surprise appearance and presentation by the well known gourmand, beer lover and all round epicure, Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish.
Plans for next year are already brewing!
