A new luxury hotel for Dubrovnik.

The first guests have arrived to the Sheraton Hotel Dubrovnik Riviera. With the opening of the second hotel under the Sheraton brand in Croatia, a two-year investment cycle of 80 million euros by the Hotel Dubrovnik Riviera company has been completed, reports Jutarnji List on August 28, 2015.

In what is one of the largest investments in Croatian tourism, 200 new jobs have been created. HUP Zagreb, the owner of Hotel Dubrovnik Riviera, now has the leading position in the Dubrovnik area with about 750 modern accommodation units. Their ambitious and long-awaited investments in the Dubrovnik area include three hotels, villas, apartments and a range of other facilities.

The company said that Sheraton Hotel Dubrovnik Riviera is one of the best hotels under the Sheraton brand on the Mediterranean. The hotel has 239 modern rooms and 11 suites, and is categorized with five stars. They have plans to become one of the most modern and largest conference centres in Croatia.

The hotel is located on the site of the former Hotel Orlando, at a prime location in Srebreno near Dubrovnik, and will be opened all year round. In addition to the Sheraton Hotel itself, the project includes villas Srebrenka, Supetar, Lovorka and Borovka, which are already on the market or in the final stages of construction.

“We have already welcomed the first guests. We are very pleased, although we had problems with the land ownership issues and administration. Now that it’s over, of course, we are very satisfied. The location is fantastic – right by the sea, near Dubrovnik. We are opened to all markets, but we expect most guests to come from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Korea”, explained Anđelko Leko, the majority owner of HUP Zagreb. The hotel will be officially inaugurated in about thirty days. “This hotel is beautiful and will surely enhance the tourism image of Dubrovnik.”

The investment cycle of 80 million euros includes projects at locations Mlini and Srebreno. In addition to the hotels Astarea, Mlini and Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera, it also includes a number of villas and apartments.

“With the opening of new facilities and the repositioning of the destination, the project has the potential to attract broad market groups and modern sales channels. It should be noted that the project was aimed at the renovation of tourist facilities that were damaged during the war, which, given the location, had negatively affected the image of the Croatian tourism”, said the company in a statement.
