Ermanno Zanini talks about Dogus Group plans and reveals that they’re already planning to enter new destinations on our market.
Poslovni Dnevnik caught up with Ermanno Zanini to discuss matters on the 2nd of October, 2017. The investment climate in Croatia is better for investing in hotels, for which the Dogus Group is intensively seeking new destinations to develop its hotel and catering brands, including the latest luxury brand – Mytha Hotel Anthology.
Regarding what Dogus are interested in when it comes to destinations here in Croatia, Poslovni Dnevnik talked with Ermanno Zanini, the General Director of Mytha Hotel Anthology.
The beautiful Villa Dubrovnik, which was acquired by Dogus three years ago, is one of the seven hotels that are already operating under the new concept of Mytha Hotel Anthology. Mytha Anthology currently operates six more luxury hotels in Italy, Turkey and Spain. The new brand was launched at the end of 2016 at ILTM in Cannes, France.
What does Mytha Hotels Anthology bring to the market and how do you distinguish yourself from other hotel brands?
Our main concept is luxury and the Mediterranean lifestyle, warmth, gastronomy, wine culture, we’re not interested in strict standards, but authenticity, while retaining the identity of the [particular] destination. What will be the same in all hotels is the level of the quality of the service, as far as everything else is concerned, all our hotels will be unique and ”their own”.
Our focus will be on hotels that aren’t too big, about 50 rooms, we aren’t planning to create a large hotel chain and our goal is to find establishments that will fit into our concept. Unlike other brands, we recognised the needs of new, modern travellers who are increasingly eager to enjoy different experiences in different destinations.
How do Croatia and Dubrovnik fit into such a luxury brand?
Croatia is an important part of this project because it is linked to the philosophy of Mytha Hotels Anthology and the Mediterranean lifestyle. That is why we won’t stop at just Dubrovnik, we’re looking for new opportunities in Croatia, we’re interested in other destinations like Split or Zagreb.
We started this project a year ago and a lot of work awaits us. Next year will be very important for the consolidation of the brand under which the seven hotels currently operate. Dogus plans to open Il Ricio’s restaurant in Dubai in early 2018 and the other in Miami at the end of the year.
Will Villa Dubrovnik require additional investments?
Villa Dubrovnik was a very important investment for Dogus, which we’ll continue on with next year. After the reception, a new investment starts next winter after the hotel closes and will be done in two phases, room decoration is planned, we’re currently working on a spa and wellness area, as well as sorting out the meeting rooms. Now we’re working on the new Mytha Hotel Anthology website, we’ve just finished photographing all the members of the group that will be selling with a new image as of December.
Are you planning any partnerships with other investors, or will it all be only under Dogus Group ownership?
Within the coming two years, we definitely want to open the door for this brand and other hotel owners who think they can fit into the concept. We want to develop a business model, with 50% owned by the Dogus Group.
