The shipyard from Split is taking part in international military and defence industry fair in Abu Dhabi.
The 13th international fair of weapons and military equipment IDEX 2017, which is the world’s largest exhibition of military and defence industry and technologies, is currently taking place in Abu Dhabi. It is also the only international fair of arms and military equipment in the Middle East and North Africa. The fair brings together 57 countries and more than 1,200 companies. One of the companies which is taking part in the fair is Brodosplit, one of the largest Croatian shipyards, which has its own exhibition area where it presents its military programme, reports Jutarnji List on February 22, 2017.
IDEX is held under the patronage of the President of the United Arab Emirates and supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces – Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan. The IDEX fair also includes the fourth largest fair of maritime defence equipment and maritime security, NAVDEX 2017.
Brodosplit has presented its programme of transfer of military technology and military products. They are especially proud of their latest project, a coastal patrol ship for the protection of internal territorial waters and combat and logistics support tasks.
“All stages of the design process of this ship were done by Croatian companies. The design is ideal for export because it can be adapted to the needs of potential customers. Given the experience and expertise by which Brodosplit is already well-known in this region of the world, we believe this fair represents an excellent basis for establishment of relationships with potential clients in this region and in the world”, said Darko Pappo, a member of the Brodosplit board of directors.
The length of the ship is 43 metres and it can also be used for search and rescue operations at sea. A special feature is optimization of ship systems which mean that with one tank of fuel it can navigate about 1,000 nautical miles. The optimized fuel consumption, which is a result of innovative design of the hull shape, and excellent navigation characteristic allow for a very efficient use, which can result in significant savings compared to similar ships.
With the construction of the coastal patrol ship, Brodosplit has entered a niche of special purpose ships. The shipyard has continued its business approach, which is based on the idea that its main advantage is that it can design and build small, medium and large vessels, for different purposes.
