The town of Vrlika, located in the Dalmatian hinterland, plans to begin the construction of a business incubator and POS flats.
The contract for the construction of the business incubator in the Kosore business zone in Vrlika worth HRK 19.5 million was signed on Monday by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts Martina Dalić and the Mayor of Vrlika, Jure Plazonić, reports Poslovni.hr on September 26, 2017.
“Nearly HRK 20 million in grants is intended for building the business premises, purchasing equipment, and turning the business incubator into a place where ”entrepreneurial beginners” can get access to business premises, the Internet and consulting staff so they can start their entrepreneurial life at a lower cost,” said Martina Dalić.
She emphasised that the business incubator is extremely important for the town of Vrlika which has been struggling with emigration. According to her, the construction of the incubator goes to show that Croatia’s membership of the EU can bring European funds to every part of Croatia.
“This is the best use of European funds, as it would take several years to set aside enough money from the city budget,” says Dalić.
The Mayor of Vrlika added that the business incubator in the Kosore business zone will be built on 8,000 square meters of land, and should be completed by 2019. He explained that 87.7 percent of the investment worth HRK 19.6 million intended for the construction of the incubator will be co-financed from the European Union’s Structural Funds, and that the remainder will be invested in the city’s budget.
Mayor Plazonić also added that there are plans to build POS (Public Incentive Housing) flats in Vrlika for which the City of Vrlika will ensure the land for free, as well as co-finance the interest rates of young families with children who decide to live in Vrlika.
