Labin Company Suddenly Closes After 5 Years of Excellent Business?

Lauren Simmonds

The sudden move has occurred without any notice, and without any explanation whatsoever…

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 5th of October, 2018, after five years of carrying out successful business operations and producting mobile homes supplied to campsites belonging to some of the most famous and largest tourist companies in Croatia, there is a growing likelihood that the factory in Labin, under the name of CR Abitare, will close its doors, according to claims from unions in Istria, Kvarner, and Dalmatia.

Glas Istre, a lotal Istrian portal, didn’t receive any sort of comment or confirmation that the company was being closed down from its Italian owners, and although questions were asked and an explanation as to what was happening was sought, a variety of circumstances indicate that closer is indeed on the cards and that the situation is as suspected.

Namely, for unknown reasons, and without any public announcement and explanation, the halls located in Dubrova began being emptied and the materials from inside were being transported over to Italy every day.

After more than a decade of mobile home production, first under the name of Eurohouse and then Shelbox, which ceased production back in January 2013, in the very same area, with almost the same workers, in late 2013, the production of CR Abitare’s mobile homes began.

Owing to enviably stable business, already solid employee salaries rose by five percent this year, and it was expected that this year’s usual start of production would begin in early October after workers returned from their breaks. It seems however, that the story is quite a different one.
