Croatian Companies Could Perform up to 40% of Works on Pelješac Bridge

ZAGREB, March 28, 2018 – Croatian companies can be included in the construction of the Pelješac Bridge, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) said on Wednesday.

Based on experiences so far with Chinese contractors on European construction sites, it is estimated that domestic companies could have a 40 percent share in that project valued at 2.8 billion kuna, HGK said.

“The Chinese companies have to count on Croatian companies in any case, on the local labour force, equipment, material and other infrastructure necessary for this project,” HGK’s Mirjana Čagalj said. She believes that the share that Croatian companies could have in the project could be quite significant if, with support from the government, preparatory works are done well.

Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butković said on Monday that contracts for the construction of the bridge could be signed in about two weeks and that the construction would last for three years.
