Young Zagreb innovators invent smart security system for locking bikes

A Croatian start-up project has been selected to present its innovative product Bike2Lock in front of 15.000 leading world investors and participants of AIM – the annual investment meeting in Dubai. Natko Bošnjak, Slaven Pokrivko and Antonio Filipović from Zagreb thought up a unique security system in the world whose purpose is to lock bikes on public surfaces.

Bike2Lock system enables parking of bikes and its secure locking which protects all vital bike parts from theft. Every bicycle has its own parking capsule which is locked upon system activation. However, the true value of the products is in its software solution which is integrated in the security system of Bike2Lock.

The solar power supply of the entire system also deserves to be mentioned which in the first phase enables video surveillance and illumination, while in the next phase of the project it is intended to charge electric bicycles. The entire smart system is connected to an app on mobile phones which controls everything and sends information to users.

“Many European countries promoted and cherish the cycling culture, but also face the issue of theft and damage to bicycles. For instance, The Netherlands has 16 million registered bicycles, with around 4 million stolen each year. A similar situation exists in Germany, Belgium and Norway. Our idea was initially focused on solving the issue of theft and bicycle protection on public surfaces and the entire Bike2Lock smart system developed from it,” said Slaven Pokrivko.

The annual investment meeting in Dubai will enable them to present their product to 15.000 world investors and participants. “We feel lucky to be the only start-up from Croatia taking part in this forum, and besides the main award we would like to win, we feel the networking will greatly help us in the further development of this project. We are especially glad that we can point out Croatia and Zagreb as a place where we began this entire project,” said Natko Bošnjak.
