October the 24th, 2023 – Đuro Đaković Specijalna vozila (Special vehicles), a company within the wider Đuro Đaković Group, and a Swiss client, recently contracted the production and delivery of freight wagons.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the aforementioned job which regards Sgmmnss 40 in particular, is worth 23 million euros. Đuro Đaković reported the aforementioned information via the Zagreb Stock Exchange recently, and the delivery of those wagons is currently planned for 2024.

Sgmmnss 40 type wagons are otherwise four-axle platform wagons intended for container transport. The wagon type complies with the binding regulations of TSI WAG, valid UIC brochures, ERRI recommendations, the agreement on the mutual use of freight wagons in international transport AVV(RIV) and all of the current EN standards.

Adam Šotek, the CEO of CE Industries, owned by Jaroslav Strnad, one of the partners, revealed the plans of the Czech-owned company from Slavonski Brod in the wagon production segment back at the beginning of the year.

In an interview with the Slovak business daily Hospodarske noviny, he pointed out that in 2023, Đuro Đaković planned to produce more than 800 such wagons, with 264 having been produced in 2021, and 580 in 2022.

Can Đuro Đaković become the third largest EU wagon producer?

The long-term goal is for this company is to become the third largest producer of wagons in the European Union (EU). Looking precisely towards that aim, the challenging goal of 1,200 wagons produced per year has been set for the company. In order to meet that target, the construction of new plants on the areas around the existing factory will most likely be necessary.
