An 18 million kuna project for Ericsson Nikola Tesla will undoubtedly result in an economic boost and further employment opportunities.

At present, twenty people are working on preparatory works and looking for a suitable business space for further company operations.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 22nd of March, 2018, Osijek’s city administration expressed their satisfaction and understandable glee on Wednesday, with the announcement from the successful company Ericsson Nikola Tesla, that it would open up a development and research center in Osijek, where around 300 people will find employment over the next few years, Lokalni.hr writes.

At the press conference, Mayor Ivan Vrkić stated that the move was proof that the city coalition was functioning well, because if there wasn’t a good political climate, that project wouldn’t happen.

”This is how we can prove that we’re at the forefront of developing the economy and opening up new jobs,” added a proud Vrkić.

As previously stated, the company currently has twenty people working on preparatory works, as well as looking for a suitable business space. It has been encouragingly announced that Ericsson Nikola Tesla will employ about 100 people in the first year in Osijek, and in the next two to three years, about 300 employees will join the company, in what is sure to be a more than considerable, and much needed boost for Osijek’s local economy.

Osijek’s Deputy Mayor Žana Gamoš (HNS) announced that an ICT park will also be constructed in Osijek.

The estimated value of the project for the construction of the aforementioned ICT park stands at approximately 18 million kuna, and about 85 percent of the money will be provided through the integrated territorial investments program, noted Gamoš, adding that with the arrival of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Osijek is slowly becoming the regional centre for the country’s ICT sector.
