A total of 187 million kunas will be provided for the specialist training of Croatian physicians.
The Ministry of Health announced a call for proposals for specialist training in medicine, for which 187 million kunas from the European Social Fund has been secured, enabling it to fund a total of 273 specialisations of young doctors at primary health care level, reports Poslovni.hr on August 26, 2017.
The goal is to improve the number of specialisations in less attractive and deprived areas, and in emergency medicine. A total of 39 health centres and 21 county emergency medicine institutes can apply for the competition, provided they are located in the first and second group of counties according to the development index, on the islands and in areas where the public health network is not complete.
The programme will fund 112 specialists of family medicine, 52 paediatricians, 41 physicians from the field of gynaecology and obstetrics, 14 from clinical radiology and 54 from emergency medicine.
At the beginning of September, the Ministry of Health will issue a public call for all pre-selected applicants, and the deadline for these applications will be 31 December 2017 for specialisations in paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics, clinical radiology and emergency medicine, and 31 December 2018 for specialisations in family medicine.
Each specialisation project will commence on the day of the conclusion of the grant agreement between health centres and emergency medicine institutes as beneficiaries of the funds and the Ministry of Health and the Croatian Employment Service as intermediary bodies, and the deadline for completion of all activities of the selected specialisation projects is 31 December 2023.
The lowest grant amount that can be allocated to a particular project is 800,000 kunas and the largest 40.6 million kunas.
Among health centres which can apply to the competition, in addition to those in larger towns, are Nova Gradiška, Vela Luka, Beli Manastir, Donji Miholjac, Kutina, Novalja, Ozalj, Vojnić, Petrinja and Senj.
The specialisation programme for doctors is part of the operational plan “Effective Human Resources” for the period 2014-2020.
