After Wolt finally arrived in Split, so did Glovo…

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Darko Bicak writes on the 30th of September, 2019, the main delivery service from the popular Glovo is now available in the City of Split, as has been learned from the company’s headquarters in Zagreb.

In a mere six months, this delivery service has become very popular in the capital, where thousands of residents order food through Glovo, and in addition, the service performs a wide variety of micro-deliveries, from items from the store and the pharmacy to forgotten keys or simple package deliveries.

Teo Širola, General Manager for Glovo Croatia, explained that they have about 500 more or less permanent employees for delivery in Zagreb, while in Split, the estimate is that they will need 200 people or so when the business develops and starts gaining the same level of popularity it has in Zagreb.

“As most of our contractors do this job as a job on the side, the numbers and the structure fluctuates alongside the schoo/academic year. Many of our workers are students who can’t work during their exam periods, but we manage to cover all workforce requirements because we don’t depend on just a single group of workers,” Teo explained.

Teo adds that they plan to expand the number of employees delivering for Glovo in Zagreb, where their oldest supplier is 72 years old, and in addition, after Split, they plan to expand and become present in all major cities in Croatia by the end of the year.

Glovo’s arrival to Split was initially planned for mid-September, but as Širola explains, due to optimisation of the number of suppliers, they decided to postpone their entrance by around ten days.

“In record time, Glovo will ”create” fresh croissants or juices, deliver urgently needed business documentation, cycle through the city to deliver a bouquet of flowers for an anniversary, birthday, or reconciliation to the door of loved ones.

There are definitely more serious situations, too, such as the delivery of medicines we can’t do without or ”crisis” situations like celebrations when all the drinks and food are gone, that goes for anything, even when the condoms are gone,” they explain from Glovo with a smile. The popular deliver platform that has more than three million users worldwide today.

It has more than 10,000 partners globally and a network of some 30,000. Glovo was launched in Barcelona, Spain back in 2015 and is present in more than 100 cities in 22 countries today.
