ZAGREB, October 11, 2018 – The Croatian government on Thursday decided to advertise a tender for the sale of the so-called Czech Villa on the island of Vis and the starting price is set at 32.1 million kuna, while State Assets Minister Goran Marić said he hoped that potential buyers would show their interest in purchasing the property.
He also hopes that the investment into the future hotel on that location can reach 100 million kuna.
In mid-July 2017, the government launched the Czech Villa tourism project on the site of a former barracks of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) on Vis. The project provided for the reconstruction and upgrade of the Czech Villa into a hotel of at least 4 stars as well as the reconstruction of nearby buildings and construction of new accommodation and hospitality facilities.
Minister Marić underscores that the future buyer is supposed to build all the amenities and structures in line with the physical plan.
The bids for the purchase are to be submitted by 30 November.
The beginning of the construction of the hotel can be expected in 18 months’ time and the construction is likely to last 36 months after the conclusion of the purchase agreement.
The Czech Villa complex measures 3.7 hectares in area and the concession also covers the pertaining coastal and sea area, measuring 9,703 square metres.
