As Knin focuses on its development, the EU puts a spring in their step.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 30th of December, 2017, Knin has been focusing on its development business wise, with the aim to level out social problems such as poverty and general inequality.
As of the 8th of January, 2018, micro, medium and small scale entrepreneurs from the Knin region can submit their respective project ideas in an open call for Entrepreneurship Development in Knin, worth over a massive 22.2 million kuna!
These activities are funded by the European regional development and operational program of competitiveness and cohesion (2014 – 2020), and applications are being received until the end of June, 2019. The aim of this praiseworthy move is to create the sustainable social and economic regeneration of the city of Knin, in order to reduce social inequality, exclusion and poverty in the general area.
Within the framework of the same project proposal, applicants may apply for regional support, de minimis support and a combination of the above mentioned categories. The maximum amount they can claim is three million kuna. In the case of regional support for micro and small enterprises, the maximum amount of co-financing is 45 percent, for medium-sized enterprises, 35 percent, while support for micro, small and medium enterprises is 85 percent.
According to HGK data, the total acheived profit of Knin’s economy in 2016 was 60 per cent higher than it was one year earlier, with the most successful sectors being wholesale and retail trade, the processing industry and construction, so European Union funds are more than likely to be a welcome boost for all those hoping to make a difference in Knin.
