December the 12th, 2023 – Konzum is set to allocate a sum totalling over 30 million euros solely to wage increases for its staff.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Croatia’s giant Konzum retail chain, part of the wider Fortenova Group (Grupa), recently announced that it is investing more than 30 million euros in the salaries of more than ten thousand employees.

According to Konzum, this is the largest investment in the company’s entire history, which will include more than 10,000 employees and which applies to all jobs spanning retail, wholesale, logistics and the online store, as well as to more than half of the employees in administrative and office positions.

For example, the gross salary in the position of salespersons, the position in which more than 50 percent of all Konzum’s employees are currently employed, will increase by an average of 20 percent. In addition, the amount of other material rights, such as Christmas bonuses, holiday pay and hot meal allowances, were all additionally increased.

Zoran Mitreski, the CEO of Konzum, stated that continuous investment in employee benefits and improving working conditions is the primary mission, and that the goal of this investment is for all employees to feel fairly paid for their work and contribution to the wider business. This salary increase was preceded by talks with the Croatian Trade Union, which more than welcomed Konzum’s praiseworthy initiative.

The president of the trade union, Zlatica Štulić, pointed out that they have had good cooperation and productive social dialogue with Konzum for many years now, the result of which was the signing of this Collective Agreement.

Konzum added that in addition to the announced salary increase, Konzum employees will also receive a Christmas bonus and a gift for the children of the employees, the amounts of which were increased back at the beginning of the year.

In addition, Konzum regularly pays jubilee awards, newborn allowances, hot meal allowances, transport and performance bonuses, and additional health insurance.
