Coud this be the end of the legendary Pipi soft drink?

Sad news from Split. After battling receivership for several years, countless failed sale attempts and the final sale to Marinko Zadro, Dalmacijavino will stop production by the end of November and 300 workers are losing their jobs. Stores will keep working since there’s enough stock in warehouses for the next six months. Everything now depends on the agreement with the new owner, Marinko Zadro who’s final payment deadline is on November 16th, 2015.

Bankruptcy commissioner Perica Mitrović confirmed that the factory will indeed close: „I have been obliged to do it since the company in receivership is being taken over by the new owner. According to the information I have, the new owner will pay the 70 million kuna on time and I am not expecting any problems in that department – Mitrović said.

What will happen to the workers, the plant and legendary Pipi soft drink after the company is taken over by the new owner, that is a million dollar question. One thing is for sure, Pipi was the beverage we grew up with, and even though in the last few years, it’s been selling more than ever, if the new owner decides to scrap the production entirely and just sell the valuable real-estate owned by the factory, we the only thing we will remember about this factory once the warehouses are emptied out is the unforgettable Pipi commercial from the 80s with Ana Sasso, and of course it’s not so appealing name when we think of its English translation.
