150 million kuna available for new EU projects.

Starting on Monday, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds will be accepting applications for financing the implementation of EU projects at local and regional level for 2015, said the ministry on Sunday. “The capacity of the fund is 150 million kuna, and the goal is to provide direct assistance to municipalities, cities and counties to ensure their participation in the implementation of EU projects”, said a statement by deputy prime minister and minister of regional development and EU funds Branko Grčić, reports Index.hr on September 13, 2015.

The money received from the fund is non-refundable, and will be used for co-financing of the implementation of EU projects at regional and local levels for users who have signed a grant agreement for the program periods 2007-2013 and 2014-2020. Applications can be sent by local and regional governments, legal entities predominantly owned or co-owned by local and regional authorities, and institutions founded by local and regional government bodies.

The fund will be financed by the 1.5 percent of revenue from income tax, and unused funds will be transferred to the next year. The public invitation for 2015 will be opened until all the money is used, but not later than 31 December 2015, and the funds will be assigned according to the principle of priority depending on the date and time of submission of each request.

The minimum value of application by a single project shall not be less than 75,000 kuna, while the maximum value is 7.5 million kuna. The share of co-funding is tied to the development index of the local and regional government unit. “For the least developed municipalities, we offer up to 90 percent of funds, while those which are more developed can get up to half of the total amount of money necessary for the project. The counties and the City of Zagreb, depending on the level of development, can count on the co-financing share between 40 to 80 percent”, said Grčić.
