The success of Podravka in only a year can be considered especially significant
At this year’s Chinese World Food Products and Services Fair – FHC China, Croatian Podravka company had a successful presentation whose results can be seen in their products readily available at supermarkets in Beijing and Shanghai, Agrobiz.hr reported on November 17, 2016.
The recently ended fair can boast 19 editions with exclusively imported products and an average of two thousand exhibitor from 66 countries.
Among them are regularly international suppliers who sell in the most populated nation in the world or international brands made in China. This year’s edition focused on buyers of quality imported products and food and drink products not made in China.
The Chinese office of the Koprivnica based food company, headed by Goran Kapičić, was opened in January 2015 in Beijing, after which a large number of its products was registered in that country.
Considering the fact Croatia compared to China and her market is a very small country whose entire population would not match the top 20 of most populated Chinese cities, and is missing good branding and recognisability to make a large leap into China, the success of Podravka in only a year can be considered especially significant.
Its products are present in many important market chains in Beijing and Shanghai which are specialised in imported products whose buyers are foreigners and the Chinese middle and upper class. These are stores Jenny Lou, Jenny Wang and April Gourmet in the Chinese capital, as well as the Family Mart chain in Shanghai.
Offered are Studena water, Podravka’s jams and marmalades, Linolada spread, pastas and sauces, instant soups and Lino wheat products.
As Podravka’s far east office states, in a few weeks they expect to sign a contract with 7-Eleven and Lawson chains, present all over the two cities.
In addition the largest Croatian food company took advantage of the sales option for which the Chinese are well known, e-business or online sales and home delivery.
Around a month and a half ago, Podravka started its virtual store on the Chinese webpage taobao.com, the Chinese version of eBay or Amazon, run by the Alibaba group, one of the largest global internet sales companies. They offer all of Podravka products registered in China.
