Rijeka Holds Record for Number of EU Financed Projects

Rijeka takes the lead.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 30th of June, 2018, there have been an impressive 4,912 contracted projects funded by 3,020 entities from private, public, and non-profit sectors.

The association of cities announces five years of Croatian membership of the European Union, with an interactive review of Croatia’s projects co-financed by EU funds, all of which were contracted in the period from 2010 to 2018.

Among the units of local and regional self-government, the City of Rijeka takes the lead when it comes to the number of contracted projects, 39 of them, followed by Osijek-Baranja County with 24, Brodsko-Posavska with 22, and the City of Zagreb with 18 such contracted projects. Krapina-Zagorje County contracted 15 EU projects in the aforementioned period, the City of Osijek, the City of Zadar, and Međimurje County all contracted 13, the City of Šibenik contracted 12, and the City of Vinkovci and the County of Sisak-Moslavina contracted 11 EU-financed projects.

Taking into account the total contracted funds per project bearer, among the local and regional self-government units, the City of Rijeka is once again in firm first place with a total contracted amount of 18.8 million euro, followed by the City of Zadar with a contracted amount of 17.1 million euro, Virovitica- Podravina County with 16.9 million euro, the City of Osijek and the City of Samobor signed for EU funded projects worth over 14 million euro, and the City of Zagreb signed for as much as 13.8 million euro.
