Salvus Keeps Workers in Croatia, 120 People Find Jobs

The company employs 120 people, and along with an EU project, it continues to strengthen its position to improve production. Revenue grows each year, and last year it stood at an impressive 125 million kuna.

A company headquarters of Salvus d.o.o, a distributor of medical products, dietary supplements and medicines in the Republic of Croatia and neighboring countries, has been set up in Donja Stubica.

As Sasa Paparella/Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 11th of June, 2018, Salvus was ”born” twenty years ago when Teodor Švaljek opened small pharmacies in Marija Bistrica and Donja Stubica. Today, the company has offices in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgrade, Serbia, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Tirana, Albania and Pristina, Kosovo. Salvus’ revenue is continuing to grow significantly each and every year – from revenues of 77 million kuna back in 2014 to 91 million kuna in 2015, and in 2016, the figure reached 105 million, but the wheels didn’t stop turning there.

“We made a profit of 125 million kuna last year, which has held up a nice trend of growth and new employment. At the group level, we employ around 120 people of various profiles, mainly those with higher education,” Teodor Švaljek, the owner of the company, told us. His team has expanded the spaces in which they’ve been working for years, and at the end of 2016, the idea came about for the project entitled Salvus, to submit an application to gain access to European Union funds.

“Our EU project includes the construction segment, the manufacturing segment, the marketing segment, and the financial segment. With this project, we’re strengthening our market position, creating the basis for improving business efficiency and producing new products, and of course creating the preconditions for creating new jobs,” added Švaljek. Does a new administrative building mean new employment? “Salvus is a company with a very high potential that brings together young, excellent people who have also recognised their role in building a nice and positive story that gives a new value to the environment in which we work. Today, it’s difficult to bring together a team of people who are willing to decide to go for such a challenge. We have a small market and a startup isn’t as easy to deal with as it would be in a a country where there is a population of 20 plus million people,” he stated.

Švaljek also made sure to point out that cooperation with Donja Stubica since the creation of the company has been very good, which has been proven by the chosen location of this facility. In addition to the aforementioned administrative building, Salvus also has seven specialty medical product stores in Zabok, Zagreb, Ivanić Grad, Daruvar, Požega, Opatija, and in the Dalmatian capital of Split.

Asked if his employees ever decide to go abroad to look for work, as has been the general trend in the country, Švaljek responded, “We’ve not had such a case so far, and since we work in the pharmaceutical industry, I pretty much don’t know about any pharmacist leaving to go abroad, I’d certainly advise young people to opt for that profession,” he concluded.
