Conflicts between Uber and taxi drivers continue.

A video was recently released on YouTube showing an attack on an Uber driver which took place on Wednesday at the Zagreb Airport, reports Index.hr on September 26, 2016.

While waiting for passengers, his car was surrounded by three men. After they started harassing him, the driver locked himself in the car and recorded it all.

One of the men took off his pants and waved his butt in front of the Uber driver. “I warn you as my brother, just come… You idiot, I will break your windshield. This is my bread, this is my bread”, shouts the man in the video, the same one who previously removed his pants. Then all three of them enter their car. One of them yells “I fill fuck your child.”

The attack was condemned by Uber. “We strongly condemn such attacks and intimidation of our partners and customers. For us, it is unacceptable to have any situation where there is a threat to safety of drivers. Police are investigating the incident and we will cooperate fully during the investigation. We are already in contact with the driver in order to offer him our support, and we intend to cooperate with all relevant institutions”, said Uber.

“We stand with our partners and drivers and fully support them. We believe that this was not just an attack on an individual Uber partner – it was an attack on the reputation of Croatian tourism. The attack took place at the airport and did not send a positive signal to tourists. This is not an image we want to send to the world”, says the statement.

“Uber is an alternative to existing urban transport solutions in Zagreb elected by thousands of locals and tourists. Certain players want things to stay the same. Unfortunately, they have decided to act in ways that endanger physical safety of users and drivers. We think that it is all a matter of choice by consumers – consumers should be the ones who will choose between Uber and other service providers”, according to Uber.
