A landmark day for taxi travel on Dalmatia’s coast on June 2, 2016, as Uber comes to town.
DuList reports that the popular yet controversial taxi service Uber, which has been taking the world by storm has arrived in Dubrovnik.
From 11am today, UberX services are officially available for both residents and tourists in Dubrovnik. UberX will be available in Dubrovnik during peak season (June to October).
”We want to contribute to local tourism on the Croatian coast and make it even more attractive for the millions of tourists who visit our country, in order to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the world. In Zagreb we have been around for more than six months and provide a safe, reliable and cost effective option to move through the city – and user response is fantastic. Today we are working on making our services available at a national level: therefore launching UberX in Split
and in Dubrovnik” stated Davor Tremac, the general manager of Uber in Croatia.
The starting price of the Uber service is 9 kuna, the price of each kilometer is 5 kuna, the price per minute is 0.5 kuna, and the minimum price is for the service is 15 kuna.
The most common destinations on the coast will have a fixed price, such as: Split – Dubrovnik (1,500kn), Pile (Dubrovnik) – Dubrovnik Airport (Cilipi) (180 kn) and the Port of Gruz – Pile (55 kn).
Uber services use cashless payment and all the transactions are made electronically, via debit or credit card associated with said passengers user account. This means that neither the driver or the passenger need to carry cash and all transactions are fully traceable, making for a safer and easier ride. At the end of each drive the passenger will receive a message via email that details the costs incurred, information about the driver and the exact direction/location of the Uber vehicle, as all Uber rides are monitored by GPS.
Uber will celebrate the beginning of an era for their ever popular company in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with free transportation over the coming weekend. All Uber users, both faithful and newcomers to the service, will be able to request up to two Uber runs, on Thursday, June 2nd, at 11 am, to Sunday, June 4, at 12 am.
Take advantage of your free ride with the code: BESPLATNIVIKEND.
