Unemployment Rate the Lowest in the Last Six Years

The official unemployment news continues to be good. 

The registered unemployment rate in Croatia has fallen for the fifth consecutive month on a monthly basis. In July, it declined compared to the previous month by 0.2 percentage points, to 15.9 percent, which is the lowest rate in the last six years, according to new data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, reports Novi List on August 25, 2015.

Lower unemployment rate than July’s 15.9 percent was last time recorded in October 2009 when it stood at 15.6 percent.

In July, the unemployment rate, which is calculated as a ratio of unemployed persons and the total active population, dropped for the fifth consecutive month, from 16.1 percent in June to 15.9 percent in July.

On an annual basis, compared to July 2014, when the unemployment rate stood at 17.7 percent, the registered unemployment rate in July of this year has decreased by 1.8 percentage points.

According to previously published data of the Croatian Employment Service, in late July 2015 there were 257,994 unemployed persons registered at the Croatian Employment Service.

Compared to June, the number of unemployed has declined by 0.8 percent, or 2,079 persons. Compared to July 2014, the number of unemployed has decreased by 12.9 percent or 38,100 persons.

According to the daily data, the number of registered unemployed persons in Croatia on Monday at noon stood at 257,205. Currently, there are 8,440 open jobs registered at the Croatian Employment Service.
