Croatia Waste Expo 2016 an important opportunity to present new waste management guidelines.

Croatian environmental sector is facing yet another great challenge. The current regulatory and strategic frameworks for waste management will have to undergo changes based on the new European “Circular Economy Package”, which was adopted in December by the European Commission, reports Večernji List on April 18, 2016.

This set of policy documents includes the revised proposals of the Waste Act, in order to stimulate European transition to a circular economy, which should in turn boost global competitiveness, sustainable economic growth and job creation. The waste management is a first-rate economic question, and transition to a circular economy where the waste from one industry becomes raw material for another one is one of the most challenging goals of the European Union and a part of the solution to the macroeconomic instability.

Croatia Waste Expo 2016 takes place at a time when Croatia is adapting the guidelines in the Plan for Waste Management to the European “Circular Economy Package”. Therefore, the conference is an ideal place for the presentation of new policies of the state environmental sector which will serve as a guide to private companies, public utility companies and financial sector regarding future investments.

Croatia Waste Expo 2016 is the fourth edition of the business conference dedicated to the business of waste management and waste water management. The aim is for it to become a traditional place for meetings and talks between the representatives of the executive and local authorities, service companies, project developers, financial institutions and manufacturers of the industrial equipment.

The conference will be held on 26 April at Vatroslav Lisinski Hall in Zagreb, and will consist of several segments. It is expected that the Minister of Environmental Protect and Nature will open the event with the presentation of the latest guidelines in the waste management policy. Croatia Waste Expo 2016 will include two panel discussions – “Waste Selection on the Doorstep, RCGO (Regional Centre for Waste Management) in the Background” and “Industry in Circular Economy – Encouraging Innovation and Investment”.
