Zagreb Airport handled a record amount of cargo this July, EX-YU Aviation reports.
Following the Airport director’s statement from last year that the new terminal building would be used to put more focus on cargo operations, Zagreb Airport handled 1,145,968 kg of freight and mail in July, which is 46% more than in July 2016, and the biggest amount handled in a single month since the airport was opened 50 years ago, EX-YU Aviation reports on August 22, 2017.
Emirates was responsible for the largest amount of cargo (414,453 kg), and the majority of cargo handled at the airport included pharmaceuticals, computer technology, and perishables.
The airport handles over 90% of air cargo in Croatia and there have been talks of transforming the old terminal building into a place for freight storage, but no concrete plans have been discussed yet.
