VIDEO: Čiovo Fire Spreading Quickly Owing to Winds

July the 27th, 2023 – Wildfire season is well and truly here as another one breaks out in Dalmatia. The latest Čiovo fire is causing concern as winds spread the flames rapidly.

As Slobodna Dalmacija/Marija Vukovic writes, the Čiovo fire broke out just above the village of Okrug Gornji in the afternoon on Thursday.

As has since been learned from the locals, the fire is spreading quickly due to the wind and they’re growing more and more concerned.

There are several firefighting services on the ground dealing with the Čiovo fire. They have arrived from the area of Trogir and Kaštela. Firefighters present have also revealed that they sent a request for the help of two canadairs.

Witnesses to the fire report seeing multiple fires across different parts of the affected area of the island. More firefighters are now at the scene battling the ongoing blaze.
