Fire Breaks Out on Čiovo Island

Today, 29 July, a fire broke out around 15:30 in the town of Žedno on Čiovo island. Fire departments have already sent forces into the field, and the firemen on the ground are joined by a canadair and an airtractor.

The blaze broke out on a hilltop and was quick to spread through the forest, reaching the first line of houses soon thereafter. Tourists have left their apartments, while the locals are soaking their yards and gardens in water in order to prevent the houses from catching fire.

Mayor of Trogir Ante Bilić is currently in the field with the firefighters.
