croatia new stadium

February the 8th, 2025 – Croatia is set to get a brand new stadium worth 8 million euros. It will shine the spotlight even more on a country so talented when it comes to sport.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Bjelovar football club is set to get its hands on a real little “beauty” in the form of a stadium boasting 3,800 seats. Croatia can therefore become proud of a new stadium building that will meet all of the requirements for playing in the Croatian National Football League.

The mayor of Bjelovar, Dario Hrebak, announced the start of works scheduled for autumn this year, and is now launching a tender for the development of the main project with a building permit. The entire project should cost around eight million euros, and Hrebak stated on his Facebook profile that the financial structure has already been closed.

Croatia is known worldwide as a sporting destination, and it is truly incredible how many talented athletes a country so small has produced. There are also plenty of unusual events related to football and other sport that have put Croatia on the map. Perhaps the most bizarre of all is the football match held at the bottom of a lake in Imotski. Yep, you read that correctly.

While Croatia needs this new stadium (and many more), there should be more done to promote the country’s sporting talent and history. On that note, is it time Croatia had a proper football museum?
