January the 28th, 2025 – The Ukrainian company DTEK is constructing another Croatian wind farm in Lika-Senj County.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the European renewable energy division of Ukrainian utility DTEK is building a second Croatian wind farm, the Ukrainian company recently confirmed.
The Ukrainian DTEK recently announced that its renewable energy subsidiary DRI will develop a 120 MW onshore wind farm in Lika-Senj County, according to a report from WindpowerMonthly.
DRI revealed that it had received a “preliminary access point” to the Croatian grid from state-owned transmission system operator Hops back in November 2024. It had then submitted an application for approval to the Croatian Ministry of Economy late last year. The actual construction of this new Croatian wind farm is expected to begin in 2027.
The latest project will be DRI’s second Croatian wind farm. The company is currently developing the Brda Umovi wind farm in Split-Dalmatia County, consisting of a 127.5 MW first phase and an additional 28.8 MW second phase. The very first phase is scheduled to be connected only in the second half of 2026.
DRI has stated that it also aims to install 5 GW of renewable energy capacity across Europe by 2028 despite the ongoing war in Ukraine. It is active in Italy, Poland and Romania, as well as in Croatia. A little earlier this month, it also appointed a new CEO.
According to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data arm of Windpower Monthly magazine, Croatia has just over 1.3 GW of operational onshore wind capacity.
