September the 9th, 2026 – Many are looking forward to the upcoming Dubrovnik-Montreal connection set for May 2027 as Air Canada makes its return.
The new Dubrovnik-Montreal route coming in May 2027 will enable passengers from Dubrovnik to connect more easily with other destinations across not only Canada but all of North America via the Air Canada network, according to Viktor Šober, President of the Management Board of Dubrovnik Airport. Sinisa Malus reports for Poslovni that flights between Dubrovnik and Montreal will operate three times a week from the 11th of May to the 24th of October 2027.
The new route will further strengthen the international connectivity of Dubrovnik Airport with the North American market and open new opportunities for the development of tourist traffic between Croatia and Canada. The introduction of the Dubrovnik–Montreal route is part of Air Canada’s largest intercontinental network expansion to date. For the 2027 summer season, the company is announcing more than 125 international routes and up to 169,000 seats per week from Canada to more than 85 international destinations. The new direct link with Montreal is of particular importance for Dubrovnik because it enables passengers from Canada to arrive more easily to the extreme south of Croatia without transfers at European airports.

For the 2027 summer season, Air Canada is announcing more than 125 international routes and up to 169,000 seats per week from Canada to more than 85 international destinations. “Montreal is one of the largest Canadian transport and economic centres, and the new route will at the same time enable passengers from Dubrovnik to connect more easily with other destinations in Canada and North America via the Air Canada network,” briefly commented Viktor Šober, President of the Management Board of Ruđer Bošković Airport. For Dubrovnik tourism, it is particularly important that the route will operate for almost six months, from mid-May to the end of October.
The new route thus opens additional opportunities for the growth of tourist traffic from Canada in the pre-season and post-season, as well as for the further positioning of Dubrovnik in the segments of individual, premium and luxury travel. On the route to Dubrovnik, Air Canada will use the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, including a premium cabin with fully flat seats.

Flights will be operated with an aircraft featuring Signature, Premium Economy and Economy cabins, offering passengers a high level of comfort and different travel options. The use of the wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner is additional confirmation of the potential that Air Canada sees in Dubrovnik and its tourist market, especially in the premium leisure travel segment. Canada is an important and promising market for Dubrovnik, and the establishment of a direct link with Montreal further confirms Dubrovnik’s international position and its attractiveness on the North American market. The flight to Dubrovnik marks Air Canada’s return to Croatia with its own aircraft after several years of absence.
The carrier first began flying to Zagreb in 1989 and discontinued flights in 1991, according to Ex-Yu Aviation News. Its subsidiary, Air Canada Rouge, resumed seasonal flights between Toronto and Zagreb in June 2018, initially with four weekly flights on a Boeing 767-300ER, marking the return of the Air Canada brand to the Croatian market after 27 years. The service was maintained during 2019 but was suspended back in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
