Earthquake felt in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia

4.5 magnitude, 10km deep earthquake strikes 35km southeast of Split.

Croatia and neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina both felt a significant rumble today at 13:53 local time on the 3rd of February, 2018, as an earthquake shook the ground.

According to EMSC, the 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck 134 km west of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 35 km east of Split and 9 km west of Donja Brela this afternoon, at a depth of 10 km.

Several testimonies have stated that the earthquake was strongly felt in some locations, from Split to Metković down to Dubrovnik. 

One testimony from Baška Voda stated that it felt as if a bomb had gone off, another in Šestanovac (Split-Dalmatia County) stated that it was not only strong but lasted for a while, causing a small crack to appear in their house, other testimonies from Makarska state that things had fallen off walls and slight damage to housing had appeared, another from Trilj reported the quake to have lasted for as long as 15 seconds.
